His formal education and qualification at the esteemed Tehran Museum in Iran further honed his skills, equipping him with the knowledge and techniques that have now become his hallmark. Upon arriving in New Zealand, Hamid's academic pursuits led him to delve into Human Geography & International Politics, and he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Geography from Auckland University. Yet, his heart was always intertwined with the world of rugs. While supporting himself by working with some of Auckland's top dealers in fine handmade rugs, Hamid was inexorably drawn back to his true calling – the meticulous care and restoration of hand-knotted rugs and carpets.
